5 Tips for Goal Setting in 2018

A new year is upon us and that means so too are resolutions. I personally shy away from making new year’s resolutions because I find that by mid-January I either fall off or forget about them!

I prefer setting goals in the beginning of the year rather than focusing on “resolutions.” In my opinion goals are much more inspiring and I tend to stick with them.

For this post I want to share with you my top 5 tips for setting goals in the new year. Now let’s dive in… View Post

Money Savers Club

When I decided to seriously move forward with my blog, I knew I wanted to do something with personal finance. Whether we like to admit it or not we all encounter budgeting and some aspect of finance in our everyday lives.

The freshmen in college away from home must learn how to budget for rent, groceries and fun activities each month. A new grad now has to think about paying back student loans. Essentially, finance and budgeting affects everyone, whether you are a teenager, a college student or a parent.

How it came about

Last year I rounded up a few of my friends and began a Facebook Messenger Group, “The Elite Money Savers Clubs.” It didn’t really take off because the motivation to save fizzled out after a few months. At the time I was still in grad school and really didn’t think much about student debt and working towards financial freedom. But what a difference a year can make! For 2018 I’m all about Financial Freedom and if you haven’t heard about Dave Ramsey I suggest you look up his YouTube channel. He talks all about financial freedom and getting out of debt.

The Purpose of Money Savers Club

There are a lot of things I wish I knew about money back when I was in college. It would have saved me a ton money (literally)! But it’s never too late to get back on track and that’s what I want our Money Savers Club here on this blog to be about. It’s not just about saving money for a goal, but also being financially responsible and smart.

I want this to be a space where we can share tip for saving money,  share affordable finds and challenge ourselves to try out these insane money saving hacks.

Motivation to be Financially free

Now that I am out of school and responsible for paying back a substantial amount of student debt, it’s really important that I stay motivated and stick to a budgeting plan. For me the motivation to be out of debt stems from the desire to retire at 55 without this heavy burden of debt looming around.

Growing up my grandfather always said that people should never borrow money and never owe money to anyone. Boy did I wish I had listened to him. But I am certainly up for the challenge of debt repayment and working towards making smarter money decisions.

……….

So, with all that being said, ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Money Savers Club! 2018 is going to be the year we kick debt in the butt and take control of our finances. I have a lot of ideas for this series and I hope you stick around and share some of your money experiences and tips.

Thanks for reading and until I see you on the next post have a great day!
